About Vivien
Vivien Schapera is the founder and current chair of FourWinds Academy for the Healing Arts & Sciences, established in 1999,in response to a perceived need for professional training, which integrates traditional academic standards with current complementary modalities, in the art and skill of healing.
Vivien herself has been trained in multiple modalities, beginning with a traditional academic background in Psychology, receiving her Masters degree from the University of Cape Town in 1984.
Simultaneously with her Masters, Vivien did a three-year training in the Alexander Technique, a century-old method for integrating mental and physical functioning through guided kinesthetic education.
Vivien has presented at national and international conferences in her field and has written numerous papers and articles on multiple subjects for professional publications such as Massage & Bodywork. Her published books include: How to Establish and Maintain a Strong Client Base (1996), Everyday Magic (2002) and How to Lose Weight and Gain Money (2004). Vivien lives with her husband of twenty-seven years, Neil, and her two sons, Aidan and Jason, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She continues to run two training facilities and her private practice as a teacher and healer. In 2007, Vivien was selected as a finalist in the Health Care Hero awards program, in the category of Community Outreach, for her leadership of FourWinds Academy.
